ABSTRACT
This review examines the peri-operative considerations of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), with a focus on their implications in hair transplant surgery. As the use of GLP-1RAs—including semaglutide, tirzepatide, exenatide, liraglutide, dulaglutide, and the like—continues to rise, understanding their pharmacologic effects, particularly delayed gastric emptying and associated aspiration risk, is critical for surgical planning. Given the limited evidence specific to minor procedures, it is essential that hair transplant surgeons are familiar with current guidelines and adopt individualized risk assessments to ensure safe perioperative care.
